Thermwood and 20-20 Join Forces!

20-20 Technologies and Thermwood Corporation have joined together to offer a smoothly integrated, highly productive manufacturing system for cabinet manufacturers.

"We are very excited about this new partnership," said Ken Susnjara, CEO of Thermwood.  "This represents a truly comprehensive approach from design and retail all the way through manufacturing, all working together smoothly and seamlessly.  It combines the best technology of both Companies to create an industry-leading offering."

The data process starts with the design.  Over 50,000 dealers use 20-20 Design or ShopWare CAD to layout and sell projects.  To machine a job, an output file from 20-20 software is sent directly to a Thermwood CNC router and the advanced CNC control on the Thermwood system automatically performs all required CAD functions, nests the parts, prints nest diagrams and labels and runs the job directly from full sheets of material.  For even higher production volume, rectangular panels without additional machining are sent to an optimized panel saw, and only parts that require CNC machining are sent to the router.  This not only increases overall production capacity, but represents an increase in productivity as well.

"The advantages to using nested based techniques for machining instead of cutting all panels on a saw and then processing machined parts one at a time on a machining center are significant," said Craig Yamauchi, Executive Vice-President of Manufacturing & Residential Solutions of 20-20 Technologies.  "Labor requirements are less and productivity is higher, sometimes substantially higher."

20-20 welcomes the opportunity to demonstrate the ease of use and high functionality delivered by this partnership for shops seeking best practices and robust integration at this year's AWFS show in July.  20-20 representatives will be on site to show how you can go from the showroom to the shipping dock with greater sales tools, lower costs, fewer errors and increased ROI.

I have used 20-20 Technologies for years and have found it to be one of the most adept and versatile programs for custom cabinet design on the market. Coupling with Thermwood will only enhance the capabilities of both companies.

I fear for the future of Thermwood. I have used 20/20 for several years and found it to be the biggest piece of crap and the company to be a joke. I may second guess my future involvement with Thermwood.

Have to agree with Scott. Have used 2020 for years as a kitchen designer and it is one of the most unstable programs I have ever used. The code is ancient and the program really needs a re-write.

Hi Scott,

There are cabinetmakers that don't like other software like CV, CW, etc.. but Thermwood still links to those. If you don't like 20-20 then you do not have to use it as their are other software's available icluding eCabinet Systems that will output to a Thermwood CNC Router.

Mr. Susnjara,

Thanks for your response. Maybe you could detect my frustration with 2020. Just that day I was having trouble just drawing a simple picture. They haven't gotten it right since I signed up with them 10 years ago. I do, however, have eCabinets and I intend to start using it as my only design program. We are setting up our shop to outsource to other thermwood users untile we can get set up in our own shop. Thanks for your time and sorry about the attitude.

20/20 is not a good program for cabinet makers. Everyone knows that. Their focus in on the retailers, not manufacturers. Every retail client I work with uses 20/20. This is a huge market for machine owners. It can make a lot of money.

What is involved in implementing the system ? ie.

What has to be bought from whom for how much ? How easy or hard ? How many implementations out of the lab ?

I have been working with 2020 for the past 10 years, I can say that it’s a very powerful software. It help me with my sails and the accuracy of the design, with at mentioning the great rendering.

Now it’s connecting to different machine. The solution is very nice. Cut list, nesting, DXF export, worklist for materials…etc

I don’t know about you but I really like this software
